Each institution is required to have at least one clinician at the site certified to use the Neuropen, 128 Hertz tuning fork, and the ‘Timed Get Up and Go’ training.

To obtain credit for completing the training:

  1. The clinician must:
    1. Review the specific instructions and instructional video for the Neuropen.
    2. Review the specific instructions and the instructional video for the 128 Hz tuning fork.
    3. Review the Timed Get Up and Go video.
    4. Specific instructions are located in the S1714 Protocol in the following sections:
      1. Neuropen training outlined in Section 7.6
      2. 128 Hertz tuning fork training outlined in Section 7.7
      3. ‘Timed Get Up and Go’ training outlined in Section 7.8

  2. The clinician must be observed demonstrating proficiency in using the Neuropen and the 128 Hz tuning fork. This can be done in one of 2 ways: 1) in-person observation at a bi-annual SWOG meeting, or 2) observation via video-conference. One of the Study Chairs or the Clinical Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for assessing the proficiency demonstration. Observation via video-conference may be arranged by e-mailing S1714@swog.org. Demonstrating proficiency is not required for the Timed Get Up and Go.

  3. Once the clinician has been observed performing both the Neuropen and 128 Hz tuning fork testing and has reviewed the Timed Get Up and Go video, please complete the short form at the bottom of this page. A training confirmation will then be displayed. This page serves as acknowledgement from SWOG that your site has completed the required training.
